If you have grown up watching Shahrukh open his arms in a romantic embrace and Richard Gere’s subtle romanticism or even if you haven’t, I would recommend you watch these movies once for their hidden messages.
When I watch a movie, I remain in the trance for a few days soaking myself completely in the essence and message of the movie. Out of three, two are hardcore romantic movies and the third one will make you love yourself a little more. So let’s renew our OTT subscriptions in case needed and dive into the depth of the movies. Here we go!

1. Chemical Hearts: This Richard Tanne movie definitely tops the chart. Based on the novel ‘Our chemical hearts’ by Krystal Sutherland, this movie swiftly takes you on a journey to experience teenage love.
The teenage phase gives you all kinds of experiences, failed decisions, anxiety, pride, grief, and achievements. It is teenage, when the hormones gushing in your body are ready to explode. The imprudent desire to discover and explore the wild world of adulthood. The raging power storming up inside. The happy hormones make you high but the excruciating pain in the journey makes you cry. You and I have gone through it all once in our lives. It was indeed painful but that’s when we felt most alive. It is a hell of a journey, isn’t it?
You will experience the same in this movie. The feelings, emotions, and love are so intense that they make you fall in love with scars. The scars that adorn us in the journey of love. The scars that speak of our experience.
Just like Kintsugi, the Japanese art form, the scars indeed enhance our beauty.

2. Kal Ho Na Ho: I am an avid SRK fan and you cannot give this movie a miss by any chance. Most of you must have already watched and those who haven’t can now enjoy this romantic comedy-drama with a bag of popcorn and cola. This 2003 movie directed by Nikhil Advani portrays selfless love and how fragile life can be. The male and female protagonists fall in love after hating each other vehemently, cliché, but could not be together in the end. The reason actually makes you ponder that love is more about giving than receiving.
Romantic love is indeed the purest and most selfless affection one can shower on a stranger. The trio of Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan will make you laugh as well as cry your heart out. Go and watch the movie to know more about altruism.

3. Gulabo Sitabo: This is basically a comedy-drama directed by Shoojit Sircar. This ain’t a romantic movie but in the end, it will teach you to love and value yourself a notch higher. Some of us are programmed to value ourselves a little low unknowingly. Call it low confidence or an inadept circle of people. Among all the characters, my favorite was none other than Mr. Amitabh Bachchan who plays the role of Mirza, a rapacious cantankerous old man. He sells his favorite chair to a ragman for a penny and that chair finds its way to an antique gallery for a price that will blow your mind.
An individual’s true worth emerges in the right situation or among the right people. It is not in everybody’s capacity to realize the true worth of people.
So, let’s call it a day,
Without any further delay,
Let these movies sweep you away,
Ah! Don’t forget your food tray,
To keep your heart and palate in play.
