Romancing the Rain

Oh, gray and tender is the rain,

That drips, drips on the pane!

A hundred things come in the door

The scent of herbs, the thought of yore.

Candice Renae Williams

You just can’t ignore it- you can either like it or hate it but not ignore it. No, I am not talking about some hot chick or guy but rain. Finally, some respite today from the scorching heat, and it makes me appreciate the weather wholeheartedly after a few torturous weeks! I am missing the monsoon all the more now.

Rain is magical, it drifts you, sways you, and makes you reminisce about your past, be it your school days, playing football in a muddy field or an old romance. It simply halts the time.
The raindrops kiss the earth and bring the creation to life. It is a surreal experience! Don’t hide or cover yourself, let the rain touch your soul and the breeze caress your cheeks. The wind whispers softly in your ears to shed the fears and embrace the rain with open arms. Waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed tea and petrichor is heavenly.

It cleanses, rejuvinates, and it washes away our pain. Slow down, sit back, have a hot cuppa of chai and enjoy the blissful rain. Nights often get quiet and chilly but the warmth of the chai will make you cozy. Then you will feel, the time stills, when the drops fall from the leaves and plop on the ground.

Devour it, savor it, and revel at the moment before the rain evanesces. Soon the clouds will give way to the monarch of the world and the sun’s rays will pierce the sky. You will then, wait for the rain to come again!

So how are you enjoying the season?

  1. Love that phrase “monarch of the sky” the sun indeed is one. Ever since I was a kid I’ve always liked the rain simply because it let me use my umbrella! I can pretend to be Marry Poppins!
