Unconditional love, is it a myth or does it really exist? Join me on this journey to explore the depths of this elusive emotion that has left humans baffled for centuries.
Let’s get one thing straight, unconditional love is pure and selfless. It is the kind of love that has no strings attached, no expectations, and no ulterior motives. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, let’s see.
Usually, romantic couples use this word quite often. But let’s be honest, there are always some expectations lurking around the corner, like “Where is this relationship going?” or “When are we getting married?”. So, it is pure in the sense that you fall in love with a total stranger who eventually becomes your soulmate. This is sweet but not totally unconditional.
When it comes to unconditional love, parents come to mind. I don’t have the guts to argue on this but still, they have expectations of course but not at the cost of their love. It’s the closest we can get to unconditional love, and we can all vouch for that.
Now, let’s talk about the big man upstairs. Yes, I’m talking about God. You are placing your faith in someone whom you haven’t seen. This takes a lot of trust, devotion, and profound love. But do we expect anything in return? Yea, well, the list we have for God is pretty endless. But there are certain stages that we can gradually pass to reach the ultimate, pure, and blissful state where we are in awe of God and deeply in love. We pray but do not ask. We meditate but do not expect.
And lastly, let’s not forget about self-love. Do we love ourselves with all our flaws? Well, we do complain about the shape and size of our body occasionally or criticize our thoughts but deep down, we love ourselves because we don’t have any other choice.
Love comes in different shades, and each shade is unique in its own way. Parental love, friendship love, romantic love, and Godly love are just a few examples. The beauty of love is that it doesn’t demand any expectations, but it’s the human mind that always finds a way to sneak them in.
So, whether it is conditional or unconditional, love is as pure, powerful, and beautiful as the floating cloud in the bright sky, the burning sun in the daytime, and the illuminating moon in the dark night. Let’s not put any adjectives before this beauty and experience it in its true, raw, and intense form.

Wise advice. My brother often teases me when I get angry that sibling love needs to be unconditional but really as you say, it’s raw and real 💕
