I couldn’t stop thinking about him.
We were miles apart,
Yet his presence enveloped me.
Like the waves of the endless sea
The invisible thread connecting our hearts felt tight
Fragile as gossamer, strong as destiny
Does he sense it too? Or is it just what I feel?
I love him with all my heart,
Like a moth to the flame
What’s there to fear? What’s the shame?
Heartache may come, it’s the price I may pay,
I’d rather be hurt than regret the emptiness of turning away.
A quiet longing wrapped my soul,
A love so fierce, beyond my control.
An untamed wildfire, consuming me whole
Does he dream of me when the world’s asleep?
Or am I the only one diving this deep?
The beep of the phone silenced the chaos.
“Hey, wassup?” his words flashed on the screen.
Seeing the question, my heart skipped a beat.
Simple words, but could there be meanings unseen?
Should I tell him? Should I let him know
How he lives in my mind like a quiet echo?
But what if he laughs, shrugs it off,
And I’m left alone….
Sometimes my mind warns me,
“What if it’s just a fling? Don’t get invested emotionally.”
But I shoot back: What is love
If you haven’t loved crazily?
The phone beeped again.
“Everything alright?”
I stared at the screen, my chest tightening.
There was something different in those words
A care, a pull, something I couldn’t explain.
It wasn’t just a fling, was it?
Could it be more than I dared to believe?
The thread between us seemed to dance
How fragile yet fierce, this tether of hearts.
But doubt tugged at me harder.
“Don’t fall too deep”, my mind warned.
What if this is just a moment for him
And forever for you?”
……………………………………………………………………………………
……………………………………………………………………………………
There was silence inside and out
Just as my heart began to doubt
His words cut through:
“You seem busy…
Call me when you are free.
I was just thinking of you.”
Ah! The words hit me like a wave.
My heart stopped, my breath raced.
He was thinking about me???
A soft smile tugged at my lips,
I blushed as my fingers hovered over the screen.
Should I play it cool? Say something casual?
But why let doubt hold me back now?
“Hey… yes, I was busy—busy thinking of you.“
I hit send with love and confidence,
And knew in that moment, the thread had grown intense.

This post hit me right in the feels—“Dare to Love” isn’t just a phrase, it’s a whole mood. Your words made me reflect on how much courage it actually takes to love fully, especially in a world that often confuses vulnerability with weakness. I felt like you put into words thoughts I’ve carried for a long time but never really expressed. It’s not easy to open your heart, and your post made me feel seen and understood.

The words reflected your thoughts and made you feel seen and understood, mean the world to me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here. Yes, love is indeed vulnerable but it is far from weak. It’s a constant war between the overthinking mind and the ever-loving heart. I wish you endless love in your life free from fear and doubt!

Ahh, what a beautiful poem depicting a girl in fierce love. Once a senior didi told me, for a girl, love has more rules and restrictions, but for a boy, it’s easy in every aspect. We may not talk about the gender discrimination here, I am only saying that I have felt it too. The way you have expressed the fierce shade of love, it’s bold and beautiful at the same time. “An untamed wildfire, consuming me whole” – this is what happens when we choose love as the sign of rebellion. Loved your poem of fierce love, I could feel every bit of it.

Thank you so much, Swarnali! And I understand how love has more rules for a girl than a boy but would love to know more about it from you someday! May be through your blog 🙂

‘Dare to Love’ – this poem has a seesaw of emotions on the girl’s side, a vulnerability, a fear that she is opening herself up to pain ahead, doubts that stop her from baring her heart to the man on the other end of the phone. Is it just a fling to him? Is she overthinking? There are so many relationships that do not reach fruition due to such thoughts. I am happy that your poem ended on a note of love and acceptance!

Love is an act of daring and you’ve given voice to that venture which is at once a passion and a contemplation. All the doubts and fears are there in your lines. And the hopes and yearnings. All the best: there’s a lot more poetry that lies within you, I feel.

One has to be fearless in love, but its better to let out the emotions and accept the consequences than to suppress and be in pain forever. Beautiful words, Pinkii. ❤️

Loved the way the poem narrates an entire story. The play of words and the setting is so relatable and ‘now’, am sure everyone could relate to it. The dilemma of ‘am I the only one interested’ is so beautifully and poetically weaved. Yes, definitely is the answer to ‘Dare to Love’, love makes the world a better place.

This was so sweet! I loved how you told a story in poetic form. And I really liked the push-pull between doubt and courage. This was my favourite line: I’d rather be hurt than regret the emptiness of turning away.
Now, if only I could learn to live like this too.

Being a hopeless romantic, it was such a delight to read your poem Pinkii💓. I am sure many of us have gone through the kind of phase that you have described. It is so relatable that I had a smile on my face throughout. Loved how you set it in the modern context of text messaging.

Oh those initial days of love, hope and dreams. I think I was quite straight forward when it came to these things. Say it when you feel it types. But as life hits you, you tend you become withdrawn and not allow your real feelings to see the world.

This is quite profound! I completely relate to how we tend to become more cautious about expressing ourselves as we move forward on this journey. Kudos to you for being brave and straightforward in the early days!

What a beautiful innocent portrayal of feelings and emotions in the modern dating world. On one hand you are the victim of the current generation not trying to fit in but trying to find yourself but at the same time the mind reels with 90s love where the heart is trying to find a home not in clubbing but a cup of chai. Also What if this is just a moment for him …And forever for you? perfectly captures the restlessness. This poem really hit home!
