The Unexpected Twists That Shaped My 2025

Every year carries its own surprises, but 2025 gave me two plot twists I never saw coming. Each one nudged me gently, yet powerfully, into a new version of myself. They were disguised as new opportunities and endless possibilities that I didn’t fully understand at first. But as the year draws to an end, reflection shows me how these tiny, scattered moments fit beautifully into the bigger picture.

Here are the two twists that changed my 2025 for good:

1. The Feature That Became a Turning Point

My year began on a wonderful note with these articles featured in Unicorn, Authoropod, and Blogchatter Blog Hop

I stepped into the year without any expectation of writing creatively beyond my blog and, of course, writing for Blogchatter blog hops. Writing for magazines wasn’t even on my horizon. Yet somehow, life pushed me toward a possibility I didn’t know waited for me.
In April, Romila Chitturi, founder of Unicorn magazine, invited me to write for her magazine’s 5th anniversary edition. I was excited—honoured, even—to be part of such a milestone issue, and I wrote for both the fiction and non-fiction categories.

Both of them getting featured in Unicorn felt like stepping into a room filled with light—warm, welcoming, and full of new beginnings. What I thought would be a one-time moment quietly unfolded into a series of opportunities: new platforms, new collaborations, new confidence.
That single feature didn’t just expand my creative circle; it expanded the way I saw myself as a creator. It helped me experiment with new writing styles and explore stories I hadn’t dared to write before.

The support and community spirit from Every Conversation Matters, Unicorn, Blogaberry Dazzle, Authoropod, and Thought Lantern helped me expand my network, draw inspiration, read more, and share more.

This year taught me one thing clearly:
Creative risks are essential—because sometimes, that first step reveals the possibility of who you can become.

2. Motherhood: The Twist I Never Knew I Needed

For the longest time, I assumed motherhood might slow down my dreams or put my creative pursuits on hold. Now that my daughter is a toddler, I decided to dedicate my time looking after her. I was mentally preparing myself to accept the fact that I would have to wait years before returning to myself again.

But the opposite happened.
Motherhood didn’t end anything—it evolved everything.
It softened me, deepened me, made me more receptive to the world and its emotions. Somewhere between sleepless nights, tiny hands, and quiet moments of reflection, my writing found a new depth—raw, honest, overflowing with feeling.

While I was taking care of her, something loosened in me. I was laughing louder, acting bolder, and enjoying a little more like a child myself. And in that newfound spirit, my creativity grew in unexpected ways.

Words flowed naturally; emotions spilt freely. Dreams I had buried long ago began resurfacing—quietly, unexpectedly—and once they were fulfilled, I realised something profound:

Dreams don’t vanish. They transform. They wait for the right moment to return.

My dreams didn’t diminish; they matured.
They grew with me.

  1. Absolutely loved reading your reflection — it felt honest, heartfelt, and genuinely inspiring. Thank you so much for the warm mention — it means a lot that Unicorn played a part in your creative journey this year. Seeing how that magazine feature became a turning point for you reminded me why I started this project in the first place — to help writers find light, confidence, and new paths in their craft. Your growth, both in motherhood and in art, shines through every word. Really looking forward to seeing what your creative heart uncovers in the year ahead 💫
